The Orpheus Piano Trio will present a program centered on two rarely performed works, namely Arensky’s Piano Trio in D Minor and Ravel's Mother Goose Suite. Russian composer Arensky (1861 – 1906) was an integral part of the Russian musical world of his day. Piano Trio No. 1 in D Minor Op.32 is one of his most successful works, and was dedicated to the memory of the legendary Russian cellist, Karl Davidoff. The trio are joined by a narrator for Ravel's Mother Goose Suite which was originally composed for four hands on piano, and later transcribed for piano trio by Australian composer Benjamin Martin.
